Under Construction

We're still working away to get things ready for the Etsy shop, which is why our garage looks like this:

Seriously…wild animals have started moving in.

But things are happening! On top of all the G. Gray projects we have under way, Gary's working on building a walnut butcher block countertop with our friend Chad.

Walnut is one of the three primary types of wood we like to work with - mostly because it's my favorite. :) If it were up to me, I would have floor to ceiling walnut in my house. I am not exaggerating.

The other two hardwoods we like to use are maple and cherry. It's great because the walnut, maple and cherry all look really nice together, so we can mix them up for different projects.

Stay tuned! We have some exciting stuff going on over here.

Bottle Drying Rack

Toward the end of last year as we were getting ready for our baby to come, we were a little overwhelmed by the registry process. There is so much baby paraphernalia out there that it can be hard to figure out which things you'll actually need and which ones will just take up space.

With so many options to choose from, we were a little surprised that we couldn't find a bottle drying rack that would work for us. We found a few that sat on the counter, but with our limited counter space and two very curious dogs, we needed something that could hang on the wall.

So Gary decided to do what he always does: head out to the garage to see what he could come up with.

This was the result:

It's super simple and not at all perfect. Gary didn't even bother measuring anything since it was just sort of an experiment, but as it turns out it works perfectly!

When the shop opens in the next few weeks we will have some more polished versions listed. We figure if it worked for us, there are probably lots more people out there who would like it too!
